Switch from WhatsApp to the successor to SMS, RCS (Rich Communication Service)
The new “METRO Chat” channel replaces Metro Germany's previous WhatsApp service, through which the company reached a six-figure number of subscribers. “METRO Chat” works directly via the messaging app pre-installed on all cell phones – without additional downloads, but with maximum reach.
The switch from WhatsApp to RCS stimulates customer loyalty and makes it smarter, easier and more profitable. The new channel not only increases visibility, but also sales through online communication.

Global messaging standard of the future
RCS technology is a standard integration on nearly all cell phones
RCS became available on iPhones with iOS 18.1 (end of 2024); it has already been available on Android for several years via Google Messages and Samsung Messages. Now, the technology is integrated as standard on almost all smartphones and, for the first time, offers companies a comprehensive, uniform messaging solution across all mobile networks. RCS technology allows Metro Chat users to access offers, brochures, and promotions directly in their messaging app without having to download an additional messenger.
